Thumper the rabbit had some free time this afternoon out of his cage.
When it was time to catch him again, the kids were more

all April for them, but this morning there they were!
Better make sure there's lots of black oil sunflower seeds out there!

Why!  Start rooting through the flower gardens of course!

It may have been only 7C outside yesterday, but that didn't stop

us from making a trip to a few garden centers yesterday.

And of course we didn't come home empty-handed.

We had 2 days of warm, sunny weather on the weekend,

and now the dandilions are blooming in full force.

The kids were picking some for the bunny.

I love Josie's caring, motherly attitude lately!

What a beautiful day today was..for many reasons!

The weather was absolutely wonderful, sunny and warm!!

The lawn got mowed for the first time this season!

Mmmm, the smell of fresh cut grass!!

And the best part of the day, by far, was that my kidney stone is OUT!!!

I am SO happy about that, I couldn't quite believe it was true!

Much to be thankful for!

Just a couple pictures of my little garbage man.

Yesterday morning, he happily wheeled the recycling to the road.

When he heard the garbage/recycling truck come in the afternoon,

he raced out to collect the cans.  It took him 3 trips to collect 2 cans,

then the lids, and on his last trip back he said, "I's so tired!"

Is it just us or do you get mice in your car/van too?

We've caught 2 mice in the last 2 days.

And this is the third time there's been mice in the van

since we bought it almost 3 years ago.

Yesterday this pair of wood ducks was swimming in the slough

in front of our house.  I would love it if they would nest close to us.

Does anyone have any nest box suggestions?

How exciting!

Oma came over after school today to take us to see some baby animals.  There were baby pygmy goats, baby bunnies, baby chicks, pot belly pigs, and more!

The kids thought it was great!

Things get kinda hairy around here sometimes.

This morning, Reuben had to apologize to Josie for being less-than-friendly.

And today, we had some little cousins (and moms) over for coffee/lunch.
Made me feel like a great cook when my nephew asked for a fill-up
of 'Krap Dinner'!  Too cute...he really thought that's what it was called!

Not a day goes by when this hand-me-down 4x4 isn't taken for a spin.

It's been a favorite of all the kids around here.

We are thankful for a good report at our 35 week doctor appt today!!

Last Saturday we got some things done around the house.

#1 - to the bottle depot, where we returned 891 cans & bottles = $53.85

#2 - cleaned out the back flowerbed

#3 - prepared the soil and planted the strawberry plants

After we were done for the day, we sat around our first campfire of the year and roasted hot dogs for dinner.  What a great day!

And in the bird world...if you are interested!
We had our first hummingbird arrive at the feeder last Friday, April 8.
And...an American goldfinch on the same day!
Yup...Spring is HERE!!

When I saw this loaf of bread today, I couldn't resist buying it.

It's the most interesting loaf I've ever seen...and the kids think it's really cool!

This group of goats moved into the field behind our place.

This morning Josie had a molar pulled out.  I was so nervous about it, and I didn't dare tell her why she was going to the dentist.  But she handled it much better than I did.  The tooth fairy will be happy with this tooth, shiny cap and all!!

Today's forecast: rain, rain, rain with some snow mixed in.  High of 2C.

The forecast for the next 5 days: rain, rain, rain.

Interesting things happen when you leave 3 kids alone for any period of time.

Today was the annual plowing match.  As you can see from the top picture, the weather wasn't too cooperative.  The mud was unbelievable.  The kids were really looking forward to going this year for the first time, but it was WAY to mucky, rainy, and cold.  We stopped along the road, but no one got out!

But this afternoon, the sun is shining brightly, and I found blossoms on my trees along the driveway!!!  (Sorry Auntie Niet, but I HAD to post this!)

Josie is becoming a great helper in the kitchen lately.

Here she's chopping up onions for in the macaroni last night.
