Wood Duck Story: Chapter 2 (see here for Chapter 1)
Looked out the window this morning to see 3!! male wood ducks in the slough!!
(3rd one by the arrow).  They were and fighting with each other.
Then one of them went in the nest box, came out,
and a while later the female came out and swam away with one of the males,
with the other males following close behind, trying to pull out a few tail feathers.
This could get interesting yet:)

I was wondering where these two were hanging out.
I found them behind the shop playing with this.
They had poured about 2 litres of orange juice in the gas tank.
Funny that it didn't roar to life!!!

Mr. Froggy is sure good at playing dead.  He had the kids completely convinced...
But after we took a really close, good look, we noticed that he was breathing!!
Josie's convinced she's going to take him to school tomorrow.
Hope her teacher doesn't care:)

Chocolate Lasagne
The best lasagne you'll ever try!!

Stir together and press into a 9x13 baking dish.

  36 Oreo cookies, crushed (I used my food processor)

  6 Tbsp melted butter

Cool in the fridge while you do the next step.

Mix until light and fluffy:

  1 - 8oz pkg of cream cheese, softened

Add and mix well:

  2 Tbsp cold milk

  1/4 cup sugar

Stir in:

  1 1/4 cup Cool Whip

Spread over crust

Combine and stir until it starts to thicken:

  2 small pkg instant chocolate pudding

  3 1/4 cup cold milk

Spread over cream cheese layer.

Rest for 5 minutes so the pudding can firm up.

Spread remaining Cool Whip (remaining from the 1 tub) over the pudding layer.

Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups mini chocolate chips over the Cool Whip.

Cool for 4 hrs in the fridge before serving.

Remember the wood duck nesting box Rich made last year?
Well, a pair of wood ducks found it this year and has started laying eggs!!
Everyday they come together, she goes in the nest box while the male (pictured here)
swims up and the down the slough in front of our house.
So exciting!!!  Hope we will be lucky enough to see the little ones soon...

Josie got another turn to take Barnaby home for a few days.
Here she's quickly writing some more in his journal before hopping on the bus.

April 19

Reuben was so excited to make Papa lunch on Wednesday...all by himself.
He happily delivered Kraft Dinner to Rich in the shop.
Thursday lunch....he plunked a box of ...Kraft Dinner on the counter,
filled a pan with water, turned the stove on...and made lunch for Rich again...
this time with a few wieners to change things up.
Rich didn't have to guess who made his lunch again.
Then today at lunch, I heard Reuben coming with a box of KD again.
You can imagine the bawling fit he threw when I said no.  I'm sure Rich will thank me.
The aspiring cook is planning to surprise his whole family with gourmet lunch tomorrow though.

You made my boy's day today.  He couldn't quite believe his eyes when he came home
from school to find a birthday gift waiting for him from you.

Thanks also for the beautiful stepping stone and the yummy jelly beans.
We have been so spoiled...again!

I see Banana Bread in our future:)
Took all the overripe bananas out of the freezer, thawed them,
blended them, then scooped it into ziploc bags and put them back into the freezer.
Now all I have to do is take a baggie out, thaw it in warm water and make some banana bread:)
Takes up a lot less space in the freezer this way.
