Many thoughts to ponder on this last day of 2012.
Much has happened in the past 12 months...let us dwell on them today.

This photo of Mt. Cheam taken just before sundown today seems appropriate
somehow as we hope to close this year and enter the New Year 2013, d.v.

Yesterday we took the kids to Science World in Vancouver.
So interesting...so fun...so worthwhile...
Seems we never give ourselves enough time
to see and do everything when we go there.

December 28

We spent a few days in Vancouver with this kids this week.
Yesterday we went to the Gingerbread Lane display at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.
Because it was the last day, some of the gingerbread houses were already gone and the other ones were getting ready to be dismantled or discarded.  The organizers were happy to send us home with three of the smaller houses.  (Can you imagine how much house 'glue' there is in the van right now?)

Here the kids are standing in front of the 11ft high x 16ft wide
gingerbread house at the entrance.

Candyland town

The detail on some of the creations were absolutely amazing!

Two of the houses that the kids were allowed to take home.
The third was quite broken, so it ended up in the garbage can.

Boone Christmas Dinner...
From this picture, one would almost think that there are (almost)
no granddaughters in the family!
But for the record, there are 6 girls, 7 boys.

Thanks secret friend!
Looking forward to a bit of quiet time to delve into my book,
sip some tea, and nibble on chocolate!

The snow falling outside seems to be more exciting
than the gingerbread train they were working on.

Blake's first snow experience...
1.  'Hmm, what IS this falling white stuff anyways?'
2.  'Okay, ready to check it out!'
3.  'This is FUN!!'
4.  'Until I lost my boot...'

This week, Barnaby Bear came to stay with Josie for 2 days.  Barnaby belongs to the Grade 2 class and is allowed to visit each student's house.  He comes with a backpack and in this backpack are two journals filled with his adventures.  One journal is from last year, and the other one is from this year.  Each child can write about their 2 day visit and add pictures and drawings.  Then Barnaby goes back to school and goes home with the next lucky child.  Josie was so happy to have her chance this week.  Here she is playing Trouble 'with' Barnaby.

It's snowing again...YIPPEE!
We had to do some things in town this morning and
the snow sure made it a LOT less busy everywhere.
I'm not complaining :)

Blake was so curious of this little pine siskin
that sat stunned after hitting the kitchen window.
It's so amazing to see that even toddlers know
when to be super gentle.

Chocolate chip cookies with a little bit of festive color.

When you make cookies, do you make sure all the cookies
are the same size and the Sm*rties are in color patterns...
or do you just spoon them on the tray and bake them??

You don't want to know how nerdy I am about this...
oh no you don't!
