Yesterday we took Reuben's comforter to get a good wash
at the laundromat in town.  Reuben was enthralled with the
little window in the door of the washer.  He stood there quietly
watching his blanket going around and around and around.

If you are looking for something that will keep the kids (or you!)
busy for hours, this might be the thing.
The idea is to find all the listed objects...in order...
in the tube of beads.  It sounds easier than it is.
Because it takes so long, we let each person find one object,
then passed it on to the next person.

Reuben with his 'rainbow glasses' on.
When you wear these 3D glasses,
everything has rainbows on it.

Phew!  We finally made it to the bottom of the apple boxes.
It took a while, but now it's all done and the freezers
are stocked with LOTS of applesauce!  Yummy!

This little female bush-tit found my suet feeder
a few days ago.  Reuben saw this picture and said
'That birdie's mad, hey Mom?'

With this little guy around,
it really is impossible to have a bad day.
Isn't he just the sweetest thing ever?

You know there's been better days
when these are the drinks of choice.
I have to say that it added a little unexpected
excitement to last night's house visitation when
THE BUG first made its appearance.

Reuben was happy to see the little white flakes
fluttering to the ground again this morning.

And what are your thoughts on snow?
Love it or hate it?

The term "whipping up a batch of cookies" has a new meaning to me now!
With my new KitchenAid mixer, these cookies were made in a flash.
On Saturday night, after looking at the closed box sitting in the corner
for the past 24 hours, I excitedly unpacked my new mixer from the box...
and like any kid, couldn't resist trying it out!
Many happy baking days ahead!!

I came into the living room to find that my rock fireplace
had been decorated with some unique accents.
I kinda like it...as long as they don't start 'disappearing'
by the same little people who did the decorating!

This morning when the kids got up for school,
squeals and shouts of sheer joy were heard!!
Oh, there is something special about the first snowfall of the year.
Perfect day to stay inside and do some baking!
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!

I discovered this flower in my gardens when I was out there a few days ago.
It's really not ready to give up yet.

And talking about giving up...
my hand kitchen mixer really wants to retire.
But I need your opinion about what to get as a replacement.
(I'm looking at a stand mixer.)
Cuisinart...KitchenAid...??
How many watts do you suggest?
There are so many models available, all a little bit different from the next one.
Tell me your opinions, suggestions, reviews!

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that I just had to get out there...
and for good reason too!  Middle of November and I finally pulled
out the bedding plants from the gardens.
Seriously, I must be the last one to finally clean up the flower beds.
If not, do tell!

I forgot to switch the birthday calendar to November...
(I know, and it's already the middle of the month!),
and so I forgot this sweet girly's birthday on Sunday.
Cherise, we hope you had a wonderful #4 birthday.
Wish we could be there to celebrate with you!!

My fridge is the rotating art gallery around here.
Always something beautiful on display.
What's hanging on your fridge?

And today we wish to say...
Happy 25th Anniversary
Tim and Renee!
We wish you many more happy years together!

The kids played a lot of farm around here this weekend.
Feeding, milking, building barns, they all had a job.
I'm a little concerned about that cougar (?)
that seems to be sneaking up on the herd though..

Today we made some more applesauce.  When it was time to put the sauce through the mill, the kids were all in bed...and with it our 'manpower'.  So Rich rigged up his drill to the mill and we were done in no time!  He even mixed the sugar and cinnamon in with his drill!  I wonder what the kids will think of that when they find out they are out of a job!
I just hope he will be just as handy when it comes to fixing my dishwasher...which decided to act up tonight at 11pm.  So 1/2 my load is drip-drying, while the other 1/2 is still waiting to be handwashed.  So wonderful!!

Remember all those apples we picked a few weeks ago?
Today we started working our way through the boxes,
picking out the ripe ones, and making applesauce.
And to think that this is just the beginning!
The kids were so excited to have fresh applesauce again,
and being able to 'run' the mill is the best part!

A little excitement down our road by the freeway this morning,
Apparently, 3 baby bears were with their mother when the mom
was hit by a car on the freeway, leaving these little ones to fend for
themselves.  So they all scampered up the tree.
One baby bear had already been tranquilized when we got there,
with these two still sitting in the tree.  While we waited, the 2 conservation
officers got ready to tranquilize the other ones....but were in no hurry,
apparently waiting for us bystanders to get cold enough that we would leave...
which we finally did.
