April 27 - part 2

April 27

All week Reuben has been counting down sleeps til Dentist Day.
Today was the day...finally.  He was so excited.  He jumped out of bed,
got dressed, ate breakfast, and asked me to comb his hair all nice.
On the way, he said to me "I always get the doctor and the dentist mixed up".
I asked him if he knew where we were going today.  He remembered...
the dentist!.  When I asked him if he knew what the dentist does,
he said, "They take out all your teeth."
And to think he was looking forward to going there!!

Suggestion:
If you need to break apart frozen chicken pieces...
don't drop them on a good plate.

It's perfect mushroom-growing weather outside...
we had a few nice and sunny days...followed by cool and rainy ones.
See the bark mulch that has been pushed up out of the way?
They literally POP out the ground!!
I'm amazed how fast they always appear.

that the dog left in her food dish.

I've been checking everyday to see if they had opened yet..
and finally yesterday they had.  Love it!

Eeeek!  Blake has discovered the toilet....
Yesterday he was happily crawling around the house, checking things out
when I realized how quiet it had gotten.  I immediately went into overdrive,
checking to make sure all the bathroom doors were closed!
On my way up the stairs I could already hear the splashing and happy squeals!
So, so yucky!

Oh, the sun is shining and the birds are singing!
I can't resist going outside and checking out the gardens.
Things are growing nicely, despite the cool-ish weather.we've been having.
I just have to tell myself that the warm weather is coming!!

she's making supper? Well, give him/her an Oreo cookie of course!

The Spring birds have been coming by the feeders in the past week.
On Sunday, the Evening Grosbeak (pictured) came for sunflower seeds.
Mr. Yellow Rumped Warbler has been seen a few more times...
once, clinging to the trim of my kitchen window, peering in!
Yesterday, an American Goldfinch discovered the nijer feeder.
But still no sign of any hummingbirds.  We're still waiting...

We took the kids to see the plowing match on Saturday.
They loved every minute of it!

5:45am is too early to be woken up on a Saturday,
even IF it is by this boy with the sweet smiling face 'calling' from his bed.
I think he enjoyed being outside so much yesterday that he
wanted to make sure he wasn't missing out on anything today.
Yawn....

I got this card in the mail today...
from my Secret Sister!!
Hmmm...can I figure this out from the handwriting,
or do I have to wait an entire year to find out who she is???

And on the bird front...no hummingbirds yet.
Waiting, waiting, waiting...

We hung up our hummingbird feeders this morning.
Has anyone seen any hummingbirds this year yet?

All the trees around here are at their
most beautiful right now.
Spring is my favorite time of year!!

I been bite...HARD...by the gardening bug!
The weather is absolutely beautiful and I couldn't resist
buying a geranium, just one, for by my back door.
A full month too early...so if it dies,
I know I have no one to blame but myself.
But doesn't it look pretty??? Huh??

that Reuben was wearing the same shirt today.
So we decided to re-enact this picture with Reuben (right).
